Looking for hotels in Panticosa for a ski trip has one clear advantage: the ski resort starts in the village itself. According to the Valle de Tena tourism website, the slopes «can be reached from the village itself by gondola». That completely changes how you choose your accommodation. In this guide we explain which area suits you depending on how you want to get around, what kind of accommodation you will find, and a selection of real hotels checked on their official websites or with the valley's tourist office.
Panticosa within the Formigal-Panticosa ski area
Panticosa is one of the sectors of the Aramón Formigal-Panticosa ski area, which totals 176 skiable km. The village sits at 1,184 metres, surrounded by mountains over 3,000 metres high, and the gondola leaves from the village centre. If you plan to combine days in Panticosa with days in Formigal, check the options on our Formigal-Panticosa lift pass page. Before you set off, see what the mountain looks like on the Panticosa webcam and check the weather in Panticosa.
Where to stay: the three areas worth comparing
Panticosa village: walk to the gondola
This is the most convenient option if you want to leave the car parked for your whole stay. From the hotels in the centre you can walk to the gondola, and the run down to the village lets you ski back when there is enough snow. It is the best choice for families with young children and for anyone who wants to catch the first lift of the morning without depending on parking.
Tramacastilla de Tena and El Pueyo de Jaca: peace and quiet a few kilometres away
These two Valle de Tena villages are a few minutes' drive from Panticosa and from Formigal too. They are usually chosen by people looking for a quieter atmosphere, views over the valley or the Búbal reservoir, or who want to split the week between the two sectors of the ski area. In return, you will normally drive to the resort every morning.
Balneario de Panticosa: thermal spa relaxation
The Balneario de Panticosa spa resort is outside the village, on the Balneario road. It is not a base designed for walking to the slopes, but it suits anyone combining skiing with thermal circuits who wants a relaxing place to stay.
Types of accommodation
- Family-run hotels in the village: several with a restaurant and a few minutes' walk from the gondola.
- Hotels in nearby villages: more peace and views, with a car to get to the resort.
- Aparthotels and apartments: with a kitchen, handy for families or groups who want to organise their own meals.
- Spa hotel: for getaways where the spa matters as much as the skiing.
