Palisades Tahoe

Host of the 1960 Winter Olympics and linked by lift to Alpine Meadows, it has the most technical terrain on the lake. It sits in Olympic Valley, about 15 minutes from Truckee.

Northstar

The most family-friendly of the three and the most sheltered: when the wind closes Palisades' ridges, Northstar usually keeps spinning. It lies between Truckee and the north shore.

Heavenly

On the south shore, with runs on both sides of the California–Nevada line and lake views from almost all of them. The highest of the three, up to 10,070 ft, and the one with the most town life after skiing.
