Here are the Valdezcaray webcams live: the resort's three official cameras, Principal, Colocobia and Debutantes, alongside the weather and snow right now at the base and at the top. Valdezcaray is La Rioja's ski resort, in the Sierra de la Demanda, above the village of Ezcaray. Check them before you set off and you will know whether there is snow in Valdezcaray today and whether it is worth going up.

What to look for on the Valdezcaray webcams before you go up
- Is the snow cover good? Look for grass or rocks showing on the runs. If you see bare patches, cover is thin and it is worth checking which runs the resort has open.
- What is the snow like? A matt, unmarked surface after a snowfall means powder. If it shines first thing, it is hard or icy; wait for the sun to soften it.
- Is there fog or wind? A grey, flat picture means fog or low cloud. If you see snow blowing off the ridges, the wind is strong up top.
- Is it busy? Valdezcaray draws plenty of skiers from La Rioja, the Basque Country, Burgos and Navarre, and it fills up at weekends after fresh snow. If there is already a lot of movement first thing, expect queues.
When to check the webcams
Look at the cameras the night before to see whether it has snowed during the day, although they are dark at night. Check again between 8 and 9 am, once it is light, before you leave home. If you are torn between today and tomorrow, cross-check what you see with the forecast snow in the weather panel.
Driving up to Valdezcaray: road and snow chains
Valdezcaray sits above Ezcaray, so the last part of the journey is a mountain road. When it snows, chains or winter tyres can be required: check road conditions at dgt.es or by calling 011 before you leave, because there are no traffic cameras on this page.
If you are going at the weekend after a snowfall, set off early: that is when most people head up.
If the webcam says yes: get your gear sorted
Caranva does not have a rental shop in Valdezcaray yet. If you are skiing at another resort, book your ski hire at other resorts online and arrive with your kit ready. If you are weighing up other resorts in the north, there is also the Alto Campoo webcam.
