Astún ski resort: slopes, season and getting there (2026/27)

Astún is a ski resort in the Aragón valley, in the Pyrenees of Huesca, 32 km from Jaca and right on the French border. You ski between 1,658 and 2,300 m, the height of La Raca peak, on more than 50 km of pistes spread over 51 marked runs. It shares a lift pass with Candanchú, its neighbour 2 km away, in the 100K ski area.

Astún's runs by level

The 51 runs are 5 green, 18 blue, 22 red and 6 black, and the resort adds 10 off-piste itineraries for expert skiers. The area is split into four sectors (Truchas, Canal Roya, Sarrios-Águila and La Raca), served by five chairlifts (Truchas, Canal Roya, Águila, Pastores and La Raca), drag lifts and magic carpets. The Canal Roya chairlift reopened on 27 December 2025 after repairs.

• Beginners: the learning area is at the base, next to the car park, with magic carpets; the Collarada carpet, the one for first-timers, has been covered since the 2025/26 season. The snow garden for children opens at weekends and on public holidays.
• Intermediates: 40 of the 51 runs are blue or red, so they make up most of the area.
• Experts: the 6 black runs are marked but not groomed, and the 10 itineraries lead to untracked snow away from the groomed pistes.
• Also: a snowpark, a sledging area (weekends and public holidays, 11:00 to 16:00) and the Ibones terrace at 2,150 m, beside the Ibón de Truchas lake.

The 100K ski area with Candanchú

The Astún-Candanchú lift pass covers both resorts, which are linked during the season by a free shuttle bus. Together they add up to 101 km, 110 marked runs (14 green, 31 blue, 35 red and 30 black) and 40 lifts with a capacity of 46,000 people per hour. The gondola that will join the two resorts is under construction and is expected for the 2027/28 season; we cover it in our story on the Astún-Candanchú gondola.

2026/27 season and opening hours

As of 5 October 2026, Astún has not announced its opening date for 2026/27. For reference, last season it opened for a first weekend on 29 and 30 November 2025, then daily from 5 December, and stayed open until 6 April 2026, with a final weekend on 11 and 12 April. Usual hours are 9:00 to 16:30 for the lifts and 8:45 to 17:00 for the ticket offices at the information centre; in the last days of last season the lifts ran on shorter hours, 8:15 to 14:30.

Getting there and parking

From Jaca it is about 32 km up the Aragón valley. The resort gives these road distances to the 100K area: Pamplona 137 km, Zaragoza 168 km, San Sebastián 215 km, Vitoria 230 km, Bilbao 301 km, Barcelona 382 km and Madrid 503 km. From France you come over via the Aspe valley and the Somport. Without a car, there is a regular Jaca–Astún–Candanchú bus run by the Mancomunidad del Alto Valle del Aragón. At the base, ticket offices, ski school, hire and ski lockers are about 5 minutes from the car; the VIP car park can be booked online and has electric-car charging. The Hotel Europa is also at the foot of the slopes.

Lift passes and season pass 2026/27

Astún has not yet published its 2026/27 day-pass prices, so check them on the official website before you go; our article on the Astún lift pass explains the types of pass and how to avoid queues. What is already on sale is the Ski Pirineos season pass, valid at Astún, Candanchú, Formigal-Panticosa, Cerler, Javalambre and Valdelinares: €959 until 8 October and €1,059 from 9 October to 19 November.

Ski and snowboard equipment

If you are not bringing your own kit, you can book it before you go up: ski hire in Astún starts at €26 a day for a full adult set in the Beginner range (€78 for 3 days), and there are snowboards and children's equipment too. Pick-up is at CaranvaSports Astún, in the Edificio Nevado building, at the foot of the slopes. Book before 15 November 2026 for 10% off, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
