Masella: slopes, night skiing and getting there (2026/27)

Masella is a ski resort in the Cerdanya, in the Pyrenees of Girona, 140 km from Barcelona via the Cadí tunnel. According to the technical sheet published by the resort, it has 74 km of skiable terrain and 65 runs between Pla de Masella (1,600 m) and the summit of La Tosa (2,535 m), served by 17 lifts, and at night it lights up 10 km of slopes. Together with La Molina it forms the Alp 2500 ski area: 145 km of runs on a single lift pass.

Areas and runs by level

Beginners: the resort recommends the beginner area at Pla de Masella, with the green runs Pastors and Pastorets, served by magic carpets. There are also the Debutants and Fons de Coma Oriola runs, 5 km from Pla de Masella, with the same services except equipment rental.

Intermediate: the Familiar run links La Pleta with Pla de Masella, 420 m of vertical on a gentle gradient through the forest. Dues Estacions is Masella's longest run, at more than 6 km: it starts at the top of La Tosa on the eastern side, with views over the Cerdanya, and links with Pla de Corda and Enamorats, the main axis back to Pla de Masella.

Advanced: from the Jumbo Tosa chairlift, the resort suggests linking the red runs Panoràmica Superior, Camí and Coma Pregona, which it singles out for the quality of their snow thanks to their altitude and aspect. For experts, the black Tub run heads west from La Tosa, steep and bumpy, and links with Isards to reach Coma Oriola through the forest.

Night skiing

Masella floodlights 13 runs on its lower and middle slopes, linked by 6 lifts, between La Pleta (2,020 m) and Pla de Masella (1,600 m): Davallada, Esquirols, Muntanyes Russes, Eslàlom, El Llac, Enamorats Superior, Enamorats Inferior, La Pleta, La Plana Superior, Aparador, Pista Fàcil, Pastors and Pastorets. The resort describes it as the largest night-skiing area in the Pyrenees, with 10 km lit. According to the calendar on its website, night skiing runs on Thursdays from 18:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays and public holidays from 18:00 to 20:30; the exact 2026/27 dates are marked on that calendar. Afterwards, the Pla de Masella restaurant serves dinner at the foot of the slopes (the resort recommends booking).

Alp 2500: Masella and La Molina

The two resorts are linked by the Jumbo Tosa chairlift and the Tosa drag lift on the Masella side, and by the Cadí-Moixeró gondola on the La Molina side. With the joint pass you can ski from Coma Oriola, Masella's westernmost sector, to Alabau, the easternmost sector of La Molina. The Alp 2500 technical sheet for 2025-2026 lists 145 km, 131 runs (29 green, 45 blue, 45 red and 12 black), 33 lifts and 13 night runs.

2026/27 season

As of 5 October 2026, Masella has not yet published its 2026/27 opening date or lift hours: it announces them on its website and app. For the 2025/26 season the resort renewed the snowmaking plant room at Pla de Masella and part of its snow cannons, and estimated that it now produces 30% more snow using up to 25% less energy.

Getting there

The resort is at Avinguda Peu de Pistes s/n, 17538 Masella (Alp, Girona). According to its own figures, from Barcelona it is 140 km (1 h 30) via the Via Augusta and the Cadí tunnel, which is tolled and avoids mountain passes, or 144 km (2 h 05) via the Meridiana and the Collada de Toses, toll-free. Other distances given by the resort: Girona, 129 km (2 h 05); Lleida, 177 km (2 h 30); Tarragona, 188 km (2 h 15); Zaragoza, 315 km (3 h 50); Valencia, 452 km (4 h 50); and Madrid, 630 km (7 h 05).

Lift passes

Masella has not yet published its 2026/27 day pass prices either: check them on the resort's official website before you go. Last season, buying online in its web shop was €3 cheaper per person than at the ticket office. Where to rent your gear

To arrive with your equipment already booked, ski hire in Masella with CaranvaSports costs from €23.50 a day for a full adult set (skis, boots and poles). You collect it at CaranvaSports Masella, in the resort car park opposite the chairlift, from 8:30 to 17:30.
