In Astún, children can start playing in the snow from age 1 at the resort's snow garden (ages 1 to 6) and join group ski lessons from age 6; for snowboarding, from age 8. For the youngest ones, the usual approach is to combine the snow garden with a few private lessons.
Children's equipment is booked just like adults': with ski hire in Astún, a full children's set (skis and boots, Kids sizes 70-135) costs €21 a day, and a snowboard set €27. You pick it up from our shop, 15 metres from the lifts at Astún ski resort, and it's fitted to your child's size and weight.
The Astún snow garden (ages 1 to 6)
It's at the base of the resort, next to the ticket offices, with a heated indoor space and an outdoor area used between 11:30 and 13:00 weather permitting. It has room for 30 children, opens at weekends and on public holidays, and is booked by email (jardindenieve@astun.com); you pay on site. These are its published prices:

Bring a change of clothes, snow clothing, gloves, a hat, goggles, high-factor sun cream and, if needed, nappies and wipes. Children can eat food you bring from home or have the snow garden's set menu. Staff do not administer medication.
Ski lessons for children in Astún
Lessons are run by the Astún Official Ski School, at the base. Published prices for 2025/26 (check the 2026/27 prices before you go):
- Weekend group lesson: €69.50 for 5 hours (Saturday from 12 to 15 h and Sunday from 10 to 12 h), from age 6 and with a minimum of 5 students.
- Snowboarding: the group lesson is for complete beginners only and from age 8.
- Holiday courses: at Christmas, Epiphany and Easter, 8 hours over 4 days for €99.
- Private lessons: one hour for 1 or 2 students costs €51 to €56. They're the option for under-6s; ask the school from what age they accept students.
At 3 or 4 years old, one hour of lessons a day is more than enough: the rest of the time, snow garden or sledging.
Children's lift pass
In 2025/26 the children's day pass (the same rate as seniors) cost €45 online and €49 at the ticket office. The exact ages for each rate and the 2026/27 price are published on the resort's website. If you live in Aragón, ask about the school lift pass: in 2025/26 pupils aged 3 to 18 could ski for the day for €22, bought in person with a certificate from their school. The sledging area
It's at the base, next to the beginners' magic carpet, and opens at weekends and on public holidays from 11:00 to 16:00. In 2025/26 a single sledge cost €13 and a double one €26, with a €15 deposit refunded when you return it. The maximum age is 14, and children under 120 cm must ride a double sledge with an adult. The resort recommends a helmet.
