Canillo, Grandvalira’s family sector

Canillo is one of the sectors of Grandvalira, the largest ski area in the Pyrenees. The village sits at the bottom of the valley and you reach the slopes by gondola up to the El Forn area. It is a sector much sought after by families and beginners, and it is linked on skis to El Tarter and the rest of the ski area.

Slopes and levels

  • Access: eight-seater gondola from Canillo village up to El Forn.
  • An area designed for families and beginners, with links to El Tarter, Soldeu and the other sectors while the connecting lifts are open.
  • Grandvalira in figures: 215 km, 142 runs (23 green, 53 blue, 46 red and 20 black) and 74 lifts, between 1,710 and 2,640 m.
  • Plan your route with the Grandvalira piste map.

2026/27 season

Grandvalira plans to open on 4 December 2026 and close on 4 April 2027, always depending on snow and weather conditions. At the start of the season the whole ski area is not usually open: check the slope status before heading up.

Getting there and parking

Canillo is on the CG-2 road, about 20 minutes from Andorra la Vella. On snowy days, carry chains or use winter tyres. The L’Arenyeta and Prat del Riu car parks are free with a lift pass from 8 am to 8 pm; you will find all the details by sector in parking in Grandvalira.

Webcam and weather in Canillo

The weather in the village is not always the same as on the slopes: it may be raining below and snowing at El Forn, or foggy in the valley and sunny up top. Before setting off, check the live Canillo webcam and the weather forecast for Canillo.

What to do in Canillo besides skiing

If you take a day off skiing, Canillo is home to the Canillo Tibetan bridge, one of the best-known mountain outings in Andorra.
