Ski hire in Pila is booked online and collected at the resort itself: you ride the gondola up from Aosta with nothing to carry and gear up at the top, in a family-run shop that has been in Pila for 30 years and fits skis and boots to your size and ability. Prices are the shop's 2026/27 rates and are locked in when you book.

Which range should I choose?

• Adult base / mid — for beginners and anyone who skis a few days a year on blue and red runs: easy-turning, forgiving skis. Full set from €35 a day.
• Adult top — for strong skiers who want a stiffer, more stable ski to go fast on the long reds and the blacks higher up. From €45 a day.
• Kids (up to 140 cm) — junior set with bindings set to the child's weight. From €25 a day.
• Snowboard — board and boots: adult from €35, kids from €25 a day.

What does each option include?

• Full set: skis with bindings set to your weight, height and ability, plus boots.
• Full set + helmet: the same with a helmet: €40 a day on base / mid and €50 on top, less than renting one separately.
• Skis only: if you bring your own boots, from €20 a day. Boots only: €15 a day.
• Extras: poles, a separate helmet, gloves, goggles or a sledge are booked on the Pila extras page.

How much is ski rental in Pila for several days?

In Pila the price is the total per person for the consecutive days you book, not the daily price multiplied: from day two onwards each day is cheaper.

Example: a couple on the base / mid full set pays €125 each for 6 days, and their child under 140 cm pays €80. For more than 7 days, the total shows when you pick your dates (up to 30 days per booking).

Where and when do I collect the gear?

• Shop: Località Pila 94, 11020 Gressan (AO), by Pila's upper car park.
• Distances: about 190 m from the Gorraz–Grand Grimod cable car and about 900 m from the top station of the gondola from Aosta.
• Opening hours: daily 8:30–17:00 in winter. Phone: +39 388 942 7359.
• Pick-up: on the first day of hire, from 8:30; Pila's lifts open from 8:45 (the beginner conveyor belts at 8:30).
• Ski storage: the shop keeps your skis and boots, overnight too, so you don't have to take them down to Aosta every evening.
• Return: at the same shop after your last day, before 17:00.

The shop also waxes skis, sharpens edges and makes custom boot insoles.

Getting to Pila and the shop

From the centre of Aosta, the Aosta–Pila gondola climbs in 18 minutes from the town at 579 m to the resort at 1,805 m, running 8:25–17:30. At the bottom there is a large car park by the gondola and the railway station is a short walk away through a pedestrian underpass; by car, the mountain road takes about 30 minutes and Pila's car parks are paid (maximum €10 per 24 hours). By motorway, take the A5 Turin–Aosta (Aosta Est exit) or, from Switzerland and France, the Great St Bernard or Mont Blanc tunnels. The nearest airports are Turin, Milan and Geneva.

How booking works

1. Choose ski or snowboard, the range (base / mid, top or kids) and the kit: full set, full set + helmet, skis or board only, or boots only.
2. Select your pick-up and return dates: the total shows straight away.
3. For each person, enter shoe size (EU), height and weight; for snowboard, your front foot.
4. Pay online: at the shop you just collect, with ID, and they fit your gear.
5. Free cancellation up to 24 h before pick-up and the CaranvaSports Guarantee.

Sizes, boots and kids

You don't need to know your ski length: the shop sets it from your height, weight and ability. What matters is your shoe size; try the boots on with ski socks and, if they pinch, they'll swap them there and then. The kids' set is for children up to 140 cm tall; above that, book the adult set. One booking can include up to 20 sets.

Pila at a glance

Pila is Aosta's ski resort: the village sits at about 1,800 m and the slopes reach about 2,700 m; the Gorraz–Couis gondola tops out at 2,723 m. According to the official website, snow permitting, the 2026/27 season runs from Saturday 28 November 2026 to Sunday 11 April 2027, and the Aosta–Pila and Pila–Stella gondolas keep running until 2 May. Most lifts operate 8:45–16:45.

Lift passes are not included: an adult day pass costs €60 at the ticket office in 2026/27, and the official website sells cheaper online rates depending on the period. All prices in Pila lift pass 2026/27, and runs by level in Pila slopes.

Tips

• Take one of the first gondolas from Aosta (from 8:25) and collect your gear on arrival, so you're on the slopes early.
• If you're staying in Aosta, leave your skis and boots in the shop's storage and travel down light each evening.
