Which level should you choose?
You pick the level when you book; ski length and boot size are fitted when you collect.
- Beginner — for first-timers and anyone who skis a few days a year, on green and blue runs such as the beginner areas at Thymel and La Séa. Full set €22/day.
- Intermediate — for skiers who are comfortable on blues and reds and want a more stable ski at speed. €30/day.
- Advanced — for skiers who go fast on reds and blacks and on hard early-morning snow. €42/day.
- Kids — children's skis, boots and poles, with bindings set to the child's weight. €14/day.

Valloire at a glance
Valloire is a village resort in the Maurienne valley (Savoie), between the Col du Télégraphe and the Col du Galibier. Together with Valmeinier, linked since 1974, it forms the Galibier-Thabor ski area: according to valloire.net, 160 km of pistes across 5 slopes and 3 massifs, from 1,430 to 2,750 m, with 70% of the runs above 2,000 m and 1,320 m of vertical. There are 91 runs (17 green, 33 blue, 33 red and 8 black) and 30 lifts, including 2 gondolas in the heart of the resort; 50% of the ski area has snowmaking, with 710 snow cannons. The snowpark is on the Crey du Quart at 2,300 m, and there are three beginner areas: Thymel (with a covered magic carpet, at the top of the Sétaz gondola), La Séa (via the Brive gondola) and the Les Verneys drag lift, open access, by the hamlet of the same name.
Season 2026/27: partial pre-openings on 5 and 6 December 2026; Valloire opens the Sétaz and Crey du Quart (80 km of pistes) from 12 to 18 December, and the whole Galibier-Thabor area from 19 December 2026 to 9 April 2027, snow permitting. An adult lift pass (13-64) costs €54.90 for 1 day and €278.50 for 6 days (skipass.valloire.com).
Getting there: in winter the only way up is via the Col du Télégraphe; the Col du Galibier is closed from the hamlet of Bonnenuit. Valloire is 17 km from the A43 motorway at Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne and from Saint-Michel-Valloire railway station, with coaches in winter. Airports: Chambéry (100 km), Grenoble (120 km) and Lyon Saint-Exupéry (190 km).
Collect in Valloire or in Valmeinier?
The two resorts share the Galibier-Thabor pistes, but there is no shuttle between the two villages. Collect your kit where you are staying: if you are in Valmeinier, go for ski hire in Valmeinier, also from €22/day.
