Where to pick up and return your skis
Pick-up is at CaranvaSports Valmeinier. The exact pick-up point in the resort and its opening hours are sent in your booking confirmation email. Your boots are fitted and your kit adjusted there, and on the last day you return it to the same place.
Valmeinier has two sides: Valmeinier 1500, the quiet, authentic village, and Valmeinier 1800, the lively heart of the resort with ski-in/ski-out living; the top of the resort sits at 1900 m. Once there, leave the car in one of the car parks and get around on the Skibus.
Getting there: take the A43 motorway to Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne (exit 29), then 12 km on the D902. The nearest railway station is Saint-Michel-Valloire, with direct TGVs from Paris (about 4h30) on Saturdays and Sundays; from there, the Altibus shuttle or a taxi. From 1 November to 31 March, winter tyres or snow chains are compulsory in Savoie.

Valmeinier, in the Maurienne valley (Savoie), shares the Galibier-Thabor ski area with Valloire: 160 km of pistes across five mountainsides on one lift pass, 90 runs (16 green, 33 blue, 33 red and 8 black) and 30 lifts (2 gondolas, 17 chairlifts, 10 drag lifts and 1 magic carpet), between 1,430 and 2,750 m — a 1,320 m vertical drop — with 70% of the area above 2,000 m. The Gros Crey (2,594 m) and Sandonière (2,750 m) chairlifts give views of the Aiguilles d’Arves. There is a snowpark, a ski cross course and the Valkid children’s area.
2026/27 season: the Galibier-Thabor area opens from Saturday 19 December 2026 to Friday 9 April 2027, with a pre-opening week from 12 to 18 December on the Valmeinier sector only, snow permitting. The lift pass is not included in the hire: one day costs €54.90 (adult) and €46.40 (child aged 5–12); six days, €278.50 and €237. Under-5s and over-75s don’t pay for a lift pass.
