As of 17 September 2026, Aramón has not yet announced the opening date of Formigal-Panticosa for the 2026/27 season. What you can know is when the resort opened in recent seasons, what makes the date move earlier or later, and how to plan your first trip without taking chances. And so that equipment isn't a problem on that first day, you can have your ski rental in Formigal sorted in advance, from €25/day for a full adult set.
Is there an official opening date for 2026/27?
No. Neither the Aramón website nor the Formigal-Panticosa one has published a date yet. Some travel websites already show approximate dates, but marked as "unconfirmed": treat them as estimates, not as an announcement.
The most useful reference is how the group did it last year: on 5 November 2025 Aramón published the planned opening of its resorts, with Formigal set for 29 November, and it met that date. It's reasonable to expect a similar announcement sometime in November. We'll update this article as soon as it's official. What those dates tell you
Over the last three seasons, Formigal opened between 29 November and 16 December. The planned date is not a promise: in 2024/25 the opening was expected at the end of November, and Aramón didn't confirm it until 10 December, for Friday the 13th, "thanks to the latest snowfalls, which have left up to 80 cm of accumulated snow, together with the snow produced". The opening depends on natural snow and on temperatures low enough to make snow, not on the calendar.
Panticosa doesn't always open on the same day as Formigal: in 2025/26 it opened six days later, and in 2024/25, one day later. And in 2023/24, when the season was launched, the resort was still working to open the Panticosa sector in the following days.
Closing has ranged from 5 to 20 April. In 2025 and in 2026, the last day of the season fell on Easter Sunday.
Can you count on the December long weekend?
The Constitution Day long weekend (6 to 8 December) is the first big date of the season, and recent history says it isn't guaranteed: in 2025/26 Formigal was already open, but in 2024/25 and 2023/24 it wasn't yet. If you want to go that weekend, wait for the official announcement before paying for anything you can't cancel.
How to plan your first trip of the season
- Accommodation with cancellation. Until Aramón confirms the date, book with flexible rates.
