Sestriere and the Vialattea in brief

Sestriere is a village at 2,035 m in the Upper Susa Valley, in the Turin Alps, and the hub of the Vialattea (Milky Way): an international ski area linking eight resorts by lift — Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx, Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana, Pragelato, Claviere and Montgenèvre in France — with 400 km of pistes and 70 lifts. There are 249 runs (7 green, 80 blue, 120 red and 42 black) reaching up to around 2,800 m.

Sestriere and Sansicario hosted events at the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics, and Sestriere has staged 70 Alpine Ski World Cup races, more than any other resort: on its Kandahar G. A. Agnelli run Mikaela Shiffrin won her 100th World Cup race on 23 February 2025. The area has 14 ski and snowboard schools with 800 instructors and more than 30 mountain huts on the slopes.

Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx or Montgenèvre: which side suits you

A Vialattea lift pass covers all eight resorts. Monte Fraiteve links Sestriere with Sauze d'Oulx and Sansicario; on the other side, the Monti della Luna connect Cesana, Claviere and Montgenèvre. With small children, Sansicario and Sauze d'Oulx have Baby Fun Parks. Bardonecchia, also in the Upper Susa Valley, is a separate ski area with its own lift pass.
