Ski school in Oberhof: book your ski lessons
Oberhof, in the Thuringian Forest, is known for biathlon and cross-country skiing, but on the Fallbachhang it also has an alpine slope with an area for learning. Here you request group or private ski lessons, 2 hours a day, for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers and children, without paying anything online.
Lesson types and indicative price per day
- Group lesson (2 h): €42 per day, indicative price. You share an instructor with other skiers of a similar level. A good way to get started and keep improving, and it costs less than a private lesson.
- Private lesson (2 h): €89 per day, indicative price. The instructor is there just for you, so the lesson follows your pace and focuses on what you want to work on: your first turns, parallel skiing or skiing harder slopes with confidence.
- Ski lessons for children: group (€42 per day) or private (€89 per day), also 2 hours and at an indicative price. Add your child's age and level to the request; the minimum age and conditions depend on the ski school and we tell you in the confirmation.
Adults choose one of three levels: Beginner (you have never skied or have only just started), Intermediate (you already link turns on easy slopes) and Advanced (you ski most slopes and want to polish your technique). The indicative price is the same for all three levels.
Indicative prices by number of days
| Days | Group (2 h per day) | Private (2 h per day) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day | €42 | €89 |
| 2 days | €84 | €178 |
| 3 days | €126 | €267 |
| 4 days | €168 | €356 |
| 5 days | €210 | €445 |
The total is the daily price multiplied by the number of days. These are indicative prices: we confirm the final price before the lesson and you pay it directly at the ski school.
How the request works, in 4 steps
- Choose the level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Children), the lesson type (group or private, 2 hours) and the days.
- Send the request. You pay nothing online: 0%.
- We find you a place at a local ski school in Oberhof and confirm the school, meeting point, time and final price by email, always before the lesson.
- Go to your lesson and pay directly at the ski school.
If we cannot find a place for your dates, we tell you and you pay nothing. Cancelling the request costs nothing before we confirm it; once it is confirmed, we give you the ski school's cancellation terms in the confirmation.
What the lesson does not include
The price covers the lesson only. It does not include the lift pass, which you buy separately, or any equipment. If you have no skis, boots and poles, you can book ski rental in Oberhof for the same days, and ski clothing in Oberhof if you are missing a jacket or trousers.
When to book early
Over Christmas, during the winter school holidays and at weekends there are far more requests for lessons, especially group lessons for children and beginners. If your dates fall then, send your request in good time: it gives us more room to find you a place at a time that suits you.
The ski area: Oberhof (Thuringian Forest)
Alpine skiing in Oberhof happens at the Snowpark on the Fallbachhang: an 800 m slope served by a four-seater chairlift running from the base station at 720 m to the top station at 840 m. When natural snow is short the slope is prepared with artificial snow, and you can also ski under floodlights in the evening. The season runs from December to March, depending on the weather; no opening date for 2026/27 has been published yet.
For learning there is the Winterlernland, a beginner area with a 60 m conveyor belt where, according to the Snowpark itself, ski schools have room to practise turns and the snowplough. Children may ride the chairlift alone from a height of 1.25 m, and the town's ski shuttle bus (Skipendelbus) takes you to the Fallbachhang. Oberhof is also a cross-country destination, with 160 km of groomed trails for classic and skating, and it hosts the Biathlon World Cup from 4 to 7 March 2027: if you are going then, send your request early.

The indicative price is €42 per day for a 2-hour group lesson and €89 per day for a 2-hour private lesson, at any level and for children too. For 3 days that is €126 in a group or €267 private; we confirm the final price before the lesson.
Do I have to pay in advance?
No. It is 0% online: you send the request without paying anything and pay for the lesson directly at the ski school.
When do you confirm my lesson?
As soon as we find a place at a local ski school we email you the school, meeting point, time and final price. Always before the lesson.

We let you know by email and you pay nothing, because nothing is charged when you book.
Are there ski lessons for children in Oberhof?

Yes, cancelling before we confirm it costs nothing. If it is already confirmed with the ski school, we give you their cancellation terms in the confirmation.
