Which range should I choose in Verbier?

Verbier has slopes for every level, but it is above all a resort for confident skiers, so it pays to pick the right range. You choose the range when you book, and the shop sets the ski length when you collect.

• Superior (4★) — for beginners, for anyone who only skis a few days a year, and for intermediates cruising blue and red runs. Full set from €64.20/day.
• VIP (5★) — for skiers who already ski fast and want more grip and stability on reds and blacks. From €78.12/day.
• Premium (6★) — the shop's most technical range, for expert skiers looking for edge hold on hardpack and float in powder. From €93.10/day.
• Junior and Kids — two children's sizes with bindings set to the child's weight. Junior from €34.24/day and Kids from €22.47/day.
• Snowboard — adult board and boots from €64.20/day; children's from €31.03/day. When you book, you tell us which foot goes forward.
• Ski touring — Split Pack for skinning uphill from €71.70/day, avalanche transceiver from €25.68/day, and shovel, probe, harness and rucksack from €7.49/day.

What does each pack include?

• Full set: skis with bindings adjusted to your weight, height and ability, boots and poles.
• Skis only: if you bring your own boots. Superior from €42.80/day, VIP €56.72 and Premium €71.70.
• Boots only: if you bring your own skis or board. Adult €21.40/day; junior €12.84 and kids €9.63.
• Helmet: not included; add it as an extra when you book for €10.70/day (adult) or €7.49/day (kids or junior).
• Accidental damage cover: optional extra at €2.29/day (€16.03 for 7 days).

How much does it cost to hire skis for several days in Verbier?

Total price for a full set by number of days. The longer you hire, the less you pay per day: the Superior range goes from €64.20 for one day to €242.91 for six.

For more than 7 days, the total appears as soon as you pick your dates. Example: a family with one adult on Superior (€242.91) and one child (€79.18) pays €322.09 for 6 days of full sets.

Where and when do I collect my gear?

• Shop: our pick-up shop is in Verbier. The exact address and map are shown when you book and sent to you in the confirmation email.
• Pick-up: on the day you select as your "pick-up date", with your gear already prepared to your size, no queuing.
• Return: to the same shop, on the day you select as your "return date".
• Payment: the full amount is paid online when you book; at the shop you simply collect.

How does booking work?

1. Choose ski, snowboard or ski touring, then the range and the pack (full set, skis or board only, boots only).
2. Select your pick-up and return dates: the total shows up straight away.
3. For each person, enter shoe size (EU), height and weight; for snowboards, also your front foot. Add a helmet or damage cover if you want them.
4. Pay online and collect your fitted gear in Verbier. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up.

Verbier at a glance

Verbier sits in the Swiss Valais at 1,500 m and is the best-known resort in Les 4 Vallées, the largest ski area located entirely in Switzerland: 410 km of runs and itineraries linking Verbier, Bruson, La Tzoumaz, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon. The highest point is Mont-Fort, at 3,330 m. The Verbier sector alone, with La Tzoumaz-Savoleyres and Bruson, adds up to 106 km and 33 lifts.

Its reputation comes from freeride: there are 7 marked and secured but ungroomed itineraries, such as Mont-Gelé, Col des Mines, Vallon d'Arbi and the Mur de Chassoure. If you are just starting out, there are three magic carpets for beginners that anyone can use (Les Esserts and Les Moulins in Verbier, and another in La Tzoumaz), plus the Verbier Station sector to progress in. The season runs from November to the end of April, according to the resort itself.

Tips for ski hire in Verbier

• Book well ahead for Christmas, February half-term and Easter: that's when the shop is busiest.
• If you're heading for the itineraries, go up a range (VIP or Premium): they are marked and secured, but the snow is ungroomed. To venture beyond them, hire an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe as well.
• For a week-long trip, compare 6 and 7 days: the seventh day of Superior gear costs €27.83 more (€270.74 versus €242.91).
