Learning to ski in Oberstdorf
Oberstdorf shares 130 km of pistes across seven mountains with Austria's Kleinwalsertal. For beginners, the official website recommends the Söllereck: more than half of its runs are blue, there are day passes for the Söllereck only and a 3-hour pass, and at the mid station Söllis Winterwelt is a children's area with conveyor belts and a figure slalom (open 9:00–16:00). On the Austrian side, opposite the Ifen valley station, Burmis Kinderland has 3,000 m² of flat practice slopes.
Once you link your turns, the Fellhorn/Kanzelwand (927–2,058 m, 36 km of pistes) has long red runs down to the valley, and the Nebelhorn (13 km of blue, red and black runs) has Germany's longest valley run with snowmaking, according to the official website.
2026/27 season according to the OK Bergbahnen: Fellhorn and Kanzelwand from 4 December 2026 to 4 April 2027; Nebelhorn from 12 December 2026 to 2 May 2027; Söllereck as soon as there is snow, until 4 April 2027.
