What ski level do you need at Chamonix?

  • esqui principiante

Never skied before (or it’s been a while) — Chamonix

Green and blue runs. This equipment prioritizes keeping you from falling over going fast—it’s what we recommend for your first few days, until you truly get the hang of it.

  • alquiler esqui

You already control the track — Chamonix

Red runs. If you brake and turn without thinking, this setup weighs less and responds faster — for when you want to start exploring instead of just going downhill.

  • esqui avanzado

Looking for real speed — Chamonix

Black runs. Stiffer, more precise gear designed for expert skiers who want speed.

  • alquiler snowbaord

    Prefer table — Chamonix

If snowboard appears in the selector on this page, you book it just like skis: choose your level and gear, and see the total before you pay. If it doesn't, this page is for skis only.

Chamonix at a glance

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, in Haute-Savoie at the foot of Mont Blanc, hosted the first ever Winter Olympic Games in 1924, from 25 January to 5 February. It is not a single resort but a valley with several ski areas. The Chamonix Le Pass lift pass covers the Chamonix ones: Brévent-Flégère, Grands Montets (summit excluded) and Balme (Le Tour-Vallorcine), plus the beginner areas of La Vormaine, Les Chosalets, Le Savoy, Plateau 2000 (Planpraz), Plateau de Lognan, Les Planards and La Poya.

According to the lift operator, Chamonix Le Pass adds up to 110 km of runs between 1,000 and 2,765 m: 15 green, 30 blue, 27 red and 14 black, served by 2 cable cars, 6 gondolas, 14 chairlifts and 21 drag lifts. From the Brévent (2,525 m) you ski facing Mont Blanc. Les Houches, at the entrance to the valley, is a separate ski area (Les Houches-Saint-Gervais), where the World Cup Kandahar race is held on 30 January 2027.

The Aiguille du Midi cable car climbs to 3,842 m, the start of the Vallée Blanche: an off-piste route of about 20 km and 2,700 m of descent that crosses glaciers such as the Mer de Glace and that, if you are inexperienced, can only be done with a guide. It is not a marked run.

Geneva airport is 88 km away: there are direct buses and a train (Léman Express to Saint-Gervais-Le Fayet, then the Mont-Blanc Express). As of 6 October 2026 the operator has not yet published the 2026/27 season dates or lift pass prices; we do not sell lift passes.
