Ski school in Garmisch-Partenkirchen: book your ski lessons

In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, host of the 1936 Winter Olympics, you ski in Garmisch-Classic: 40 km of slopes on three mountains, with runs for beginners, advanced skiers and experts. The resort's official website puts it simply: ski lessons are available in groups or privately, for children or adults. Here you request yours without paying anything up front: choose your level, lesson type and days, and we find you a place at a local ski school.

Types of lesson and indicative price per day

  • Group lesson, 2 hours: €42 per day (indicative price). You share the instructor with other skiers at your level. It is the most common way to learn or to build confidence over several days in a row, and the first to fill up in the holidays.
  • Private lesson, 2 hours: €89 per day (indicative price). The instructor is there just for you, or for you and your family or friends: you progress at your own pace and work on exactly what you need, from your first turn to black runs.
  • Kids, group (€42) or private (€89) per day (indicative price). Choose “Kids” and the lesson type when you book; we confirm the school and the exact group by email.

Adults choose a level: Beginner (never skied or only a few days), Intermediate (linking turns on blue and easy red runs) or Advanced (comfortable on red and black runs, polishing technique). The indicative price is the same at all three levels.

Indicative prices by number of days

DaysGroup (2 h/day)Private (2 h/day)
1 day€42€89
2 days€84€178
3 days€126€267
4 days€168€356
5 days€210€445

Total = daily price × number of days. These are indicative prices: we confirm the final price before the lesson and you pay it at the ski school.

How booking works, in 4 steps

  1. Choose your level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Kids), the lesson type (group or private, 2 hours) and the days.
  2. Send your request. 0% online: nothing is paid on the website.
  3. We confirm by email: we find a place at a local ski school and, before the lesson, send you the school, meeting point, time and final price. If we can't find a place for your dates, we tell you and you pay nothing.
  4. Go to your lesson and pay directly at the ski school.

Cancelling your request costs nothing as long as we haven't confirmed it. We give you the ski school's cancellation terms with the confirmation.

Not included: lift pass and equipment

  • Lift pass: not included, and we don't sell it. In Garmisch-Classic the 2026/27 day pass costs €69 online and €72 at the ticket office for adults, and €34.50 online for children aged 6 to 15 (zugspitze.de prices, valid from 27 November 2026). Children under 6 skiing with their parents don't pay for a lift ticket, but in a ski course they also need a valid ticket and pay the child rate. For the beginner area there is the Kinderlandkarte (Hausbergbahn and the practice lifts in the Kinderland), sold only at the ticket office: €21.50 for children and €43 for adults.
  • Equipment: skis, boots, poles and helmet are extra. You can rent them through our ski hire in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and your ski clothing through our ski clothing hire in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Garmisch-Classic: where you learn to ski

Garmisch-Classic spreads its 40 km of slopes across the Hausberg (1,310 m), the Kreuzeck (1,651 m) and the Alpspitze (2,628 m), with 4 runs down to the valley. For your first days there is the Ixis Kinderland on the Hausberg: a practice slope next to a moving carpet (“Zauberteppich”) and 3 beginner lifts. At the other end of the scale is the Kandahar, the World Cup downhill: its “Freier Fall”, with a 92% gradient, is the steepest section on the whole World Cup circuit, and for beginners and less experienced skiers the official website suggests starting from the Kandahar-Express middle station to skip the difficult passages.

The 2026/27 Garmisch-Classic season is expected to run from mid-December to 29 March 2027. If you come earlier or later, the Zugspitze glacier season is expected to run from 27 November 2026 to 2 May 2027: see our ski lessons on the Zugspitze. You can reach the Hausbergbahn by train: it has a Deutsche Bahn stop, with no change needed from Munich.

When to book

Christmas and New Year, Easter, weekends and school holidays are the busiest dates at ski schools. Send your request as soon as you know your dates: the earlier it reaches us, the more room we have to find you a place.
