From Jaca to Candanchú and Astún
Candanchú is 28 km from Jaca and 11 km from Canfranc, right by the French border, according to the resort's official website, and a wide road climbs the valley from Jaca. Astún sits right next to Candanchú, at the head of the same valley, and belongs to the municipality of Jaca.
Without a car: the local authority (Mancomunidad Alto Valle del Aragón) stopped running the Jaca–Astún bus on 20 April 2026 and the operator Avanza continues the service, with its own timetables and fares. Shuttle buses link Astún and Candanchú, with timetables published by the resorts. If you'd rather not bring the gear down every evening, Candanchú has a ski locker room at the foot of the slopes (8:30–17:15) and Astún offers ski storage too.
How booking works
- Choose ski, snowboard or snowshoes and the range: Bronce, Plata or Kids.
- Select your pick-up and return dates: the total shows straight away.
- For each person, enter shoe size (EU), height and weight; for snowboard, your front foot.
- Pay the full rental online: there is nothing else to pay at the shop.
- Collect your gear ready in Jaca. Free cancellation up to 24 h before pick-up and the CaranvaSports Guarantee.
Sizes, boots and kids
You don't need to know your ski length: the shop sets it from your height, weight and level. What matters is your shoe size: try the boots on with ski socks when you collect them, and if something isn't right they swap it there and then. The Kids set (€14 a day) comes with bindings set to the child's weight. One booking can include up to 20 sets, so the whole family or group collects at once.
Astún and Candanchú at a glance

Astún's base is at 1,658 m and its lifts run 9:00–16:30. People have skied at Candanchú since 1928: it has 25 lifts, its highest point is the Tuca Blanca (2,400 m) at the foot of Pic d'Aspe, and it also has cross-country and snowshoe trails.
Lift passes are not included: buy them on the official Astún-Candanchú website. The resorts announce the 2026/27 opening date depending on snow. From Jaca you can also reach the Tena valley; if you're skiing there, see our ski hire in Formigal or ski hire in Panticosa.
